A: 為何那對棒球隊老是被給打火機?

B: 因為他們一直在輸球(弄丟火柴)阿。

此處的match代表的就是球賽比賽，但match也可當火柴解釋。所以反推因為老是弄丟火柴(=輸了球賽) ，所以才會被給打火機當嘲諷。

而match當球賽時，我們常講的打假球案就是用match-fixing。今年的警大研究所(外事)就是考這一題match-fixing scandal 打假球醜聞。但另外要注意的是fixing在這當操縱、調整修理用，較不會用fixed過去分詞表示，因為fixed當形容詞常當”固定、堅定不移”解釋。例如fixed interest 固定利率，雖然fixed election也可當”操縱”選舉的解釋，但還是叫建議用ing表示較不至於混淆。

而light是指亮光，所以lightning就是閃電，delight因為得到 (de)亮光(light)當然欣喜了，再加上(en)黑暗中摸索方向時，有人使之照亮(lighten)當然是啟迪開導。再者，lighter賴打(台)這由日文外來語(美語)衍伸而來的發音常常，可聽到抽菸的人在講。
